Baseball Betting – Yankees Take Offensive Problems West For Date with Mariners

Perhaps it was a stroke of luck that the New York Yankees got rained out on Monday. That may have given them an opportunity to gather themselves for the long trip out west in the middle of an offensive slump that has prevented them from gaining any ground in the American League East.

But there is a problem for them; the Seattle Mariners, who are their opponents on Tuesday night, are in the midst of a nice run in which they have been getting outstanding pitching, and they will have someone in a groove ready and waiting for the Bronx Bombers when baseball betting action gets underway at 10:10 PM ET at Safeco Field.

In the MLB odds that have been established on this game by the people at Get That Bet the mariners are the favorites on their home field:

Seattle Mariners (Iwakuma – R) -150
New York Yankees (Nuno – L) +130

Under 7 Runs -125
Over 7 Runs +105

The Yankees have lost seven of their last ten games, and in none of those games have they scored more than four runs. Very few players have been hitting, and what is interesting is that they were going to sit out the player who had been the hottest for them. Jacoby Ellsbury has a 13-game hitting streak going, but he has also been bothered by a hip problem, and manager Joe Girardi was intending to keep him out of the lineup on Monday, and since there was no game, Ellsbury will be in the lineup on Tuesday night.

He will be hitting against Hisashi Iwakuma, the Japanese import who is 4-2 with a 2.66 ERA and is facing the Yankees for the fourth time in his career. Baseball bettors who follow the Bronx Bombers know here was supposed to be a matchup between Iwakuma and his teammate from Japan, Masahiro Tanaka, but Girardi made the decision to move everybody in the pitching rotation back a day, which means that southpaw Vidal Nuno will get the start. He has not done all that well lately, going winless over the course of his last five starts. If there’s something that would encourage Get That Bet customers who like to back the Yankees, it’s the fact that Nuno has done well on the road with a 1.96 ERA. There is also an air of mystery involved here, as Nuno has never faced the Yankees before.

Iwakuma is part of a staff that has compiled an earned run average of 1.91 ERA over the last nine games. Not coincidentally, the Mariners have won eight of those games. And on top of that,. the Seattle pitching staff has held opponents to 19 consecutive scoreless innings. Can Nuno and whoever else is available on the Yankees’ pitching staff put a halt to the seven-game hitting streak of Robinson Cano, who bolted the Yankees for a huge free agent deal with Seattle that New York chose not to match? That might be central to a victory, since Girardi’s crew has had enough of a lack of offense that it has been downright, well, offensive.
