Tigers Claw Back Against Rival White Socks

With the help of Doug Fister (9-8) the Detroit Tigers were finally able to snap a four game losing streak that was starting to get out of control. Fister played his heart out through seven innings and only surrendered two solo homeruns from White Socks players. The crucial series is now even upped and the Detroit Tigers have clawed their way closer to a top spot in the AL Central by being two games behind. The White Socks were left scratching their heads at the amazing play of Fister who has been playing exceptionally well since the all-star break. Tonight’s game features two high caliber pitchers of the battling teams with Scherzer(15-6) and Floyd (9-9) set to take the mound. A person who likes to bet on sports will have a hard time deciding on who to choose for this one as the potential for who will win is anybody’s guess.

Detroit Tigers MLB Betting

Scherzer has been throwing smoke since the all-star break and doesn’t look to be slowing down. The Detroit pitcher has accumulated fifteen wins and surrendered six loses while maintaining a cool 3.85 ERA. Scherzer has been pitching so well since the break that the rumours about a possible CY Young nomination are in the air. With the continued success of the Tigers pitching core it is mind boggling that they have been struggling to find consistent wins.

Unfortunately the biggest problem for the Tigers in the latter half of the season comes in the form of offensive consistency which has plagued the team for the past couple of games. While the continued success of both Scherzer and Fister has been well noted the Tigers haven’t been able to get more than two hits during their four game skid. Other than the MVP like playing of Cabrera who managed his 36th homerun of the year on Tuesday there really hasn’t been much urgency on the part of the Tigers offence.

It is not all doom and gloom however as Austin Jackson was able to find a spark last night and hit his first homerun in a month giving the Tigers the tying run. Production also came in the form of RBI singles from Alex Avila and Andy Dirks. While the offence of the Tigers may have run aground a bit the team has improved to 53-12 when leading by five or more runs. Hopefully the offensive explosion of last night will be able to carry over to tonight .The Tigers will be facing Gavin Floyd who has gone 1-0 and maintained a 1.38 ERA in two outing against the Tigers this season. With the documented struggles of the Tigers offence betting against Gavin could potentially turn out to be a bad idea.

If the Tigers can keep the bats swinging and their hot handed pitchers throwing Detroit has very good chance in defeating the Chicago White Socks. Sports betting sites will have a hard time giving this one to the White Socks who have played extremely poorly against the Tigers this season. One can bet that the Tigers who are now two games back can smell the division lead and are looking to make ground after four poor outings.
