FLORIDA STATE HEADS THE PACK IN GTB/PREMIER 21

The Florida State Seminoles, off a dramatic win in the final BCS Championship game, will start the season as the team to beat, according to the initial Get That Bet/Premier 21, which was released yesterday.

The ranking is sponsored by two gaming-related entities – Get That Bet, a new sportsbook-casino-poker destination that has committed itself to excellence and value for the customer, and Premier Per Head, which offers some of the most comprehensive resources available in the world when it comes to Price Per Head (PPH).

Florida State, of course, brings back the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in Jameis Winston, and with thirteen starters returning from a team that scored almost 52 points per game and limited opponents to just twelve, they are most likely going to be formidable on a nationwide basis.

Oklahoma has high hopes behind Trevor Knight, the quarterback who engineered a 45-31 win in the Sugar Bowl over the #3 team, Alabama, which is replacing steady quarterback AJ McCarron this season. It remains to be seen how well Ohio State will do with freshman J.T. Barrett at quarterback as he must fill in Braxton Miller, the Heisman Trophy winner who has been lost for the season with a shoulder injury. They start out in the rankings at the #10 spot, right in the middle of a three-team grouping which includes Wisconsin (which plays #12 LSU this weekend) and Michigan State, which visits #4 Oregon next week. Needless to say, there could be some movement in a hurry.

The GTB/Premier 21 will be updated each and every week of the college football season. This poll was launched in order to offer a ranking of teams from a sports betting/handicapping standpoint. “Those people who are familiar with college football know that the way the mainstream media looks at the value of teams and the way people who actually have money on the games look at them is often quite different,” said gaming consultant Charles Jay, who was instrumental in creating the concept. “What we are doing is perhaps trying to affect a little sharper approach to it.”

About the top-ranked team, Jay says, “FSU dominated its opposition until the title game, when it came from way back to beat a team from the SEC, which had controlled the BCS recently. They bring back Winston and a whole lot of weapons, and until they show otherwise, they deserve the consideration as we start the season.” He added that a team does not necessarily have to lose to drop in the rankings, as may the case in the two “major” polls.
