Football Betting Preview — Belk Bowl: Louisville Hasn’t Decided QB Yet For Georgia Clash

Football Betting Preview -- Belk Bowl- Louisville Hasn't Decided QB Yet For Georgia Clash

Who will be the quarterback for the Louisville Cardinals as they prepare to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the Belk Bowl? Well, that isn’t clearly known at the moment, although it’s not as if it’s analogous to a Nero Wolfe mystery. The important thing to remember is that Georgia has to “game plan” for two different guys as the contest approaches. Football betting action kicks off at 6:30 PM ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Louisville has had a rough time of it with their signal-callers, in the quest to succeed Teddy Bridgewater, who was a first-round draft choice of the Minnesota Vikings. Will Gardner produced more than 400 yards through the air in the spring game, and that got some people very excited, along with the fact that Bobby Petrino, who can light up the scoreboard, was coming back as head coach to replace Charlie Strong, who went off to Texas.

But Gardner got hurt against Boston College and was lost for the season. That forced some improvisation, and Petrino has managed it with two freshmen – Reggie Bonnafon has had kind of a choppy season, completing just 51% of his passes, while Kyle Bolin stepped in to start against Kentucky and threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns.

We’ve got a pair of teams that are 9-3 straight-up and 7-5 against the spread. Louisville has just completed its first season in the ACC, and that included a loss to defending national champion Florida State where they blew a 21-point lead.

In the football betting odds that have been posted at BetAnySports on this game, Georgia is favored by a touchdown:

Georgia Bulldogs -7
Louisville Cardinals +7

Over 55 points -110
Under 55 points -110

Whichever quarterback is throwing the football for Louisville they are going to have Devante Parker at their disposal as a big-play threat. It is kind of remarkable that Parker came into the lineup after sitting out seven games with a foot injury and had 35 receptions for 735 yards in only five games. This is the guy Georgia had better pay some extra attention to. Florida State had very little luck containing him, as he had 214 yards against the Seminoles.

BetAnySports Sportsbook Gamblers know that one of the big matchups in this game involves the Louisville defensive line and whether it can contain the Georgia running game. Most football bettors can recall that Todd Gurley opened up the season with a dynamic performance against Clemson that had him near the top of the list of a viable Heisman Trophy candidates. And even though he was later lost to suspension, and then an injury, Georgia had already successfully made the transition to a new tailback, freshman Nick Chubb, who averaged almost seven yards a carry with a total of 1281 yards on the ground.

Louisville prides itself on being able to slow down enemy rushing attacks, as the Cardinals have allowed only three yards per carry on the season. And you can bet one guy who is very jacked up for this game is Louisville’s defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, who was fired by Georgia head coach Mark Richt at the end of last season. He would like nothing better than to come back and stifle a team that he has tremendous familiarity with.
