MLB Baseball Betting at Get That Bet — Athletics Need Sense of Urgency as They Tackle Mets

The Oakland Athletics, who had been rolling along with the best record in the major leagues for quite some time, aren’t even the leaders in their own division anymore. And so it is with a certain sense of urgency that they begin a two-game interleague series on Tuesday against the New York Mets, as Get That Bet MLB baseball betting action gets underway at 10:05 PM ET at the O.co Coliseum.

The A’s will be going with the guy who, by and large, has been their best starter this season in left-hander Scott Kazmir (13-5, 2.78 ERA), who has to shake himself out of a bit of a slump. The Mets go with Dillon Gee (4-5, 3.69), who was hit hard in his last outing.

At this moment, the Mets (59-67) are way out of the National League East lead (12.5 games behind Washington), but they still have some feint hope at competing for one of the wild card spots, as they are 7.5 games behind the pace. As for the A’s, well, they have now lost five games in a row, including a three-game sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves, and have relinquished the lead in the AL West to the Los Angeles Angels. As all baseball bettors know, there is a huge difference between going into the playoffs as a division champion and going in as a wild card entrant.

In the MLB baseball betting odds that have been posted at Get That Bet on this game, the Athletics are a large favorite:

MLB baseball betting odds Courtesy of Get That Bet USA Sportsbook

Oakland Athletics (Kazmir – L) -240
New York Mets (Gee – R) +200

Over 7 Runs -130
Under 7 Runs +110

All season long, Oakland has, by far, had the biggest margin over its opponents as far as runs scored per game. That gap has been tightening a bit, and lately, they are having much difficulty putting runners across the plate. In fact, during this five-game skid, they have scored just eleven runs.

And as MLB baseball bettors have been aware for quite some time, you can’t go to sleep when you have the Angels chasing you. While Oakland was sailing along with the best record in baseball, the Angels were second-best, and with this losing streak, their 73-51 mark is a half-game behind the pace.

Kazmir wasn’t all that bad in his last outing, as he allowed just three runs in seven innings. But he was well below par in his two outings previous to that. Get That Bet customers know that the A’s have generally been a superb play at home (40-21 record), and Kazmir has certainly been part of that, as he has a 2.34 ERA and 0.90 WHIP ratio at the O.co Coliseum.

Gee has been up and down for the Mets since he came off the disabled list in July. He was, for instance, very effective against the Phillies on August 9, out-dueling Cole Hamels with seven innings of three-hit ball as the Mets won. But he was just so-so last time out, as he allowed four earned runs (with two homers) to the Washington Nationals (the NL East leaders) over six innings of work.

The Mets split a four-game series this past weekend against the Chicago Cubs, but they have still lost five of their last seven games. During that time, they have tallied more than three runs only once. And so it would be no surprise to MLB baseball bettors that they have played five of their last six games under the total.
