NFL Betting Odds at Get That Bet — Jets Hope QB Switch Makes a Difference

Whether the New York Jets have completely lost patience with Geno Smith is rather debatable. The only thing Get That Bet customers can be assured of is that Michael Vick will be making the start at quarterback as the Jets visit Arrowhead Stadium for a game with the Kansas City Chiefs, as NFL betting action gets underway at 1 PM ET.

It got very ugly for the Jets last week against Buffalo. Smith started the game is true for exactly five yards. He had two completions to his own team, and three to the opposition. Rex Ryan then yanked him.

Vick was able to bring a little life to the offense, but he didn’t get much mileage out of his throws, completing 18 out of 36 for just 153 yards. He was intercepted once and fumbled twice. In his brief appearances this season, Vick has thrown for 3.6 yards per attempt, and he has been sacked seven times. Perhaps a full week of practice with the first team has helped him. And perhaps he is been frustrated at not getting the opportunity to play sooner, as he appeared to be losing interest.

Chris Johnson also appears to be a disgruntled veteran, making some public quotes about not having anything to look forward to the rest of the season. Yes, things are falling apart for the Jets.

In the NFL betting odds currently posted at Get That Bet (http://www.getthatbet.com), the Chiefs are the favorites:

There’s been plenty of controversy surrounding the future of coach Rex Ryan, and some of the executives. Also, it is not known whether Smith will be in the fold next year. But at 1-7, it’s getting close to the time when the team ownership must start thinking about those things.

For NFL betting purposes, what seems to have been overlooked amidst all this controversy is the fact that the Jets have only one interception on the season, and that should make things a little bit easier for the “other” Smith in the game – Alex, who plays quarterback for Kansas City. Get That Bet patrons know that Smith has revived his career on the basis of being someone who takes care of the football. He threw three interceptions in the opening game against Tennessee, and over the last six games he has been picked off only once. Not coincidentally, the Chiefs have covered all six of those games. So this is a case of a team that has been right on top of its fundamentals against a team that isn’t. It could be a tough day for Big Apple fans.
