Pro Football Betting at Get That Bet — Manning Ready to Stay Sharp as Broncos Play Host to Texans

It is becoming clear that the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning feel they have something to prove after the disastrous result in the Super Bowl. On Saturday night they line up against the Houston Texans, another team seeking some redemption, as pro football betting action kicks off at 9 PM ET at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Of course, Get That Bet customers are very familiar with the 43-8 beating the Seattle Seahawks put on the Broncos. And they looked motivated in the pre-season opener when they had the opportunity to get some payback. They did, and then last week they dominated the San Francisco 49ers thoroughly in a 34-0 win that soured the Niners’ maiden voyage in their new stadium.

The Texans want a different kind of redemption, as things fell apart, with Houston losing its last fourteen games in a season where they were expected to contend. That brought a change in coaches, as Gary Kubiak was shown the door and replaced by Bill O’Brien came over from Penn State.

In the pro football betting odds that have been posted at Get That Bet on this game, the Broncos are favored by a touchdown:

Denver Broncos -7
Houston Texans +7

Under 46 Points -110

Usually, this is the game where the starters play the most. In the case of the Broncos, things may be different, in the respect that it is not expected that the first teamers will go into the third quarter. The starting offensive unit has looked crisp, scoring touchdowns on three of four possessions. And Manning has been very active, completing 22 of 27 passes. There should be little question on the part of pro football bettors that he is “game ready.”

With the Texans it’s not the same. As Get That Bet patrons are well aware, they had a real headache at quarterback last season, as Matt Schaub couldn’t help throwing “pick sixes” and Case Keenum was given a lot of playing time out of necessity. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the new man, and he offered a little encouragement for Houston fans, after a very rough debut, when he completed nine of 12 passes for 97 yards against Atlanta. That helped the Texans to a 32-7 victory, which was very satisfying, whether it was a pre-season game or not.

Incidentally, there is still a matter to be settled with the backup QB job in Houston, as Keenum, who is still around, hopes that his edge in experience will play to his advantage as he tried to fight off the fourth-round draft pick Tom Savage, who is a “project” but somebody the Texans hope to plug in the job someday.

These two teams practiced together for three days, and as usual, there were a few flare-ups. Houston is absolutely determined not be a punching bag, and they were feisty in these sessions, to be sure. Pro football bettors at Get That Bet would probably imagine that they’d treasure any opportunity to come out on the winning side, and in listening to Denver coach John Fox, he sounds very concerned about keeping his team healthy. That might mean limiting Manning’s exposure to JJ Watt or #1 overall draft choice Jadeveon Clowney.
