The Detroit Lions may have looked to some people like a team that was not as good as its record indicated. Well, they certainly performed like that the second half against the Dallas Cowboys last week. Now they have to go up against a very hot squad in the Green Bay Packers, who come into Ford Field with an opportunity for a one-off game, with the NFC North championship at stake. This game was originally scheduled to begin at 1 PM ET on Sunday, but the time was changed to 8:30 PM ET, in order to accommodate its level of importance, because NBC has the option to do that with “flex scheduling.” BetAnySports customers will have the opportunity to place wagers during the game through the state-of-the-art software made available from Live Betting Ultra. And after the game is over, they can partake in great Asian casino action, with three no-download options.

The Lions’ profile was that of a very potent offense to go with a rather suspect defense. But actually, they would not have gotten themselves into position to win the division title if not for the fact that they could at least stop some teams. Indeed, they went through an eight-game stretch where they did not give up more than 20 points. That ended last week against the Dallas Cowboys, who beat them 42-21. The Lions were actually ahead 21-14 at one point, but then what they were doing on offense didn’t work anymore. This has got to be a source of concern for this team, because they had everything to play for last week, while Dallas had already sewn up the top playoff seed in the NFC.

After they went through a four-game losing streak, the Packers were considered to be non-factors in the playoff race. Remember, Minnesota had taken an early advantage in the NFC North, and Green Bay was going through all kinds of injury problems in its secondary. Indeed, this team gave up 153 points in the process of losing that those four games. But then gradually they got a little healthier on the defensive side, and Aaron Rodgers, who had already begun to heat up, continued with his remarkable level of consistency. And they have won five straight games.

Rodgers has 36 touchdown passes on the season, and over the last nine games he has thrown for 26 scores and been intercepted only three times. And in the last six games, he has not suffered a pickoff. He could not have done this without an unbelievable comeback season on the part of Jordy Nelson, who caught 91 passes for 1191 yards. Also, Davante Adams has emerged as a legitimate #2 receiver, and Nelson and Adams have combined for 24 touchdown catches. Another key factor, as BetAnySports patrons have seen, was the insertion of Ty Montgomery into the tailback position. Montgomery tore up the Chicago Bears a couple of weeks ago, and he has averaged six yards per carry in the process of becoming the Packers’ leading rusher.

Matthew Stafford continues to play through his finger injury, which requires a special glove. It looks like he is okay, but he will need some help from the rushing game. Detroit’s leading running back, Theo Riddick, as fewer yards than Montgomery, and as a team the Lions have rushed for 3.8 yards per attempt. Zach Zenner was briefly effective against Dallas, but they shut him down. Riddick is back this week after injury, but really, his primary value is in catching passes out of the backfield (53 receptions, 371 yards).

The winner of this game, obviously, goes on to the playoffs as the NFC North winner. The loser could also get to the playoffs, if the Washington Redskins lose to the New York Giants. They will know that result, naturally, ahead of time.
