Sunday Night NFL Betting — Manning Could Be Celebrating as Broncos Host Niners

Sunday Night NFL Betting — Manning Could Be Celebrating as Broncos Host Niners, The San Francisco 49ers are riding a three-game winning streak at the moment, and so they pull into the Mile High City with a certain degree of confidence. Of course, on Sunday night the flow is formidable, as Peyton Manning is waiting with his Denver Broncos, with the possibility of history being made. NFL betting action between these teams will begin at 8:30 PM ET at Sports Authority Field in Denver.

The 49ers have won consecutive games over the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams. Against the Eagles they were particularly impressive on defense, holding an offense that prides itself on being high-tech below 300 yards and to only five first downs before Philadelphia’s final drive, which failed. Last week against the Rams the 49ers were down 14-0, but shut the door in the second half on the young St. Louis quarterback, Austin Davis, and won the game 31-17.

Coincidentally, that was the same score Denver defeated the New York Jets by, and in that game it was complete defensive shutdown on the part of the Broncos, as the Jets had just 204 yards. Manning threw for three touchdowns, which means he is within two of the all-time mark held by Brett Favre. So unless San Francisco does its job, you will probably be seeing a mini-ceremony tonight, sometime in the second half.

In the NFL betting odds that have been placed on this game by the people at Get That Bet (http://www.getthatbet.com), the Broncos are favored by almost a touchdown:

NFL betting odds Courtesy Of Get That Bet USA Mobile Sportsbook

Denver Broncos -6.5
San Francisco 49ers +6.5

Over 47.5 Points -110
Under 47.5 Points -110

Interestingly enough, both of these teams went into the weekend among the top five defenses in the league in terms of drive stats. In other words, Denver ranks third in the league in the yards per drive it has allowed, but San Francisco ranks fourth. That’s means these stop units do a pretty good job of getting off the field. At the same time, however, San Francisco has allowed 46% on third-down, so it is imperative that this team stop Denver in those situations where it runs on first down. Ronnie Hillman had a great game for them last week at the Meadowlands, with 100 yards, but San Francisco has allowed just 3.9 yards per carry.

Get That Bet customers who have followed the Broncos closely know that they have been even stingier against the run, yielding 3.3 yards per attempt. That probably has more of an effect on this game, because we know that the Niners want to establish the running attack, even though they can put four very capable wide receivers out there at any time. Speaking of wide receivers, Demariyus Thomas has clicked with Manning for 350 yards over the last two games, so that means a big challenge for the San Francisco secondary.

The Niners have shown some mental toughness under coach Jim Harbaugh, covering 15 out of their last 21 road games. In what will undoubtedly be a festive atmosphere, they have to keep their heads about them and get solid leadership from Colin Kaepernick, who threw for 343 yards last week.
