College Basketball Betting Report – Feb. 4

Sports Betting Preview – West Virginia Mountaineers Kansas State Wildcats

The No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats remained perfect on the year with this past Tuesday’s 69-58 victory over Georgia, but you have to wonder if the spotlight is starting to get a bit too bright for this talented but youthful team as they continue their quest for an unbeaten run all the way to a national title.

The Wildcats are now 22-0 straight-up on the year, but they failed to cover against the Bulldogs as 18.5-point home favorites on TopBET closing sports betting odds. It was the fourth time in their last five outings where they could not cover a massive double-digit spread. Next up for Kentucky are tough road games against Florida this upcoming Saturday and LSU next Tuesday. Both contests good be golden opportunities to keep going against the Wildcats.

Since they usually play in late starts as part of the West Coast Conference, the No. 2 Gonzaga Bulldogs have been flying pretty low under the radar all season long. With last Saturday’s 82-64 non-conference victory over Memphis, they have won their last 15 sports betting games to improve to 22-1 SU on the year. While they did cover as heavy 17.5-point home favorites against the Tigers, Gonzaga is just 3-4 against the spread in its last seven contests with the total going OVER in four of those games. The Bulldogs will be back in action this Thursday night in a road game against Santa Clara.

The only other unbeaten team in Division I finally fell this past Saturday when No. 3 Virginia could not get past Duke in a 69-63 loss as a 5.5-point home favorite on 5Dimes’ closing betting odds. The 20-1 SU (14-7 ATS) Cavaliers quickly bounced back with a solid 75-64 road victory against North Carolina on Monday as slight one-point favorites. They will face another tough test this Saturday in the ACC when they play host to Louisville.

The Blue Devils held onto the No. 4 spot in the current AP Top 25 following Saturday’s big win and they will try and make it two in a row this Wednesday night as heavy 16.5-point home favorites against Georgia Tech. It has been a shaky ride betting on Duke in the ACC this season with an up and down 3-4-1 record ATS in seven previous conference games.

The Big Ten’s Wisconsin Badgers continue to round-out the AP’s Top 5 in the country. The Badgers just posted an impressive 92-78 victory over Indiana this past Tuesday, but they could not cover as 16-point favorites at home. While they are now 8-1 SU in conference play, their record ATS in the nine games stands at 3-5-1. Wisconsin will be back in action this Saturday with a home college basketball betting game against Northwestern. Top
