NHL Betting – Which NHL Teams Will be Disappointments in 2012?

The NHL is getting ready to start up training camps and look forward to the start of the season in October. The online sportsbook experts have put together the odds for the Stanley Cup futures and the expected cast of characters is topping the list. The Los Angeles Kings are favored to defend its Stanley Cup title while the Pittsburgh Penguins are favored to stop the Kings. But what about the teams that could wind up disappointing fans in 2012? The USA sport betting world watched the fans of Kings celebrate their first Stanley Cup victory. Let’s take a look at which teams have created high expectations that they cannot live up to.

Washington Capitals

Rookie goaltender Braden Holtby spurred the Capitals on to more playoff success than the team ever expected last season. The Capitals spent most of the season chasing playoff spots and coming up short. The general consensus among Washington fans is that Holtby will usher in a re-emergence of the Capitals in 2012-2013. The problem is that the roster is still the same roster that showed no emotion in the regular season last year and rookie head coach Dale Hunter has yet to prove that he can get this team motivated. Holtby will be a standout in 2012-2013, but the rest of the Washington team is in trouble.

Ottawa Senators

The USA Friendly online sports betting review sites watched as goalie Craig Anderson took the Ottawa Senators on a journey that looked eerily similar to the last season that Anderson played in Colorado. The Senators think it has something in Anderson, and it does not. With an aging team that is not bringing in quality replacements, the Senators will be hard-pressed to make the playoffs this coming season. Look for the Ottawa brass to finally start making some major roster changes after the 2012-2013 season is over. But by then, it will be too late to save the season.

Nashville Predators

The Predators looked to be Stanley Cup contenders two years ago, but the team keeps losing key personnel in the off-season. This summer was no exception as the US sportsbook experts watched key players such as Alexander Radulov decided to play in places other than Nashville. It has been a common theme in Nashville for the past few seasons and the exodus of key players from the Nashville roster will finally start to show on the ice. The Predators still have one of the best goalies in the league, but that is about it.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are built for the regular season but not the playoffs. After another disappointing post-season performance, the Canucks needed to make changes. But rather than make any changes, the Canucks’ management decided to stand pat with what it has. After years of excelling in the regular season but failing in the playoffs, Vancouver will finally start to show the cracks in its armor in the regular season. This could be a very ugly year in the city of Vancouver.
