The Minnesota Vikings began the season with some trepidation because of the loss of their starting quarterback, but quickly turned that into a lot of optimism as they beat their first five opponents and established themselves as one of the favorites to get to the Super Bowl. But things have certainly changed since then. Now the Vikes have their backs to the wall as they pay a visit to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, in a game that begins at 1 PM ET at Everbank Field. Minnesota has lost five of its last six games, and this has been characterized by a lack of offense. They have not exceeded 21 points in only one of the last six games, and that was only with the help of an interception return and kickoff return for a touchdown, so there are plenty of questions about their ability to be able to pull away from opponents, which they will have to do to some extent as a road favorite against a team that has been known to get some “garbage” points.

The Jags have been a big disappointment, and admittedly much of that has to come from the offense as well. They have now lost seven games in a row, and the head coach, Gus Bradley, may find himself on the chopping block. But you couldn’t ask for more than what they got out of the defense last week, holding the Denver Broncos to 206 yards and one third down conversion. But the Denver defense befuddled Blake Bortles, who completed just 19 of 42 passes. So why wouldn’t the slowly-developing quarterback out of Central Florida not encounter similar problems against the Minnesota stop unit, which has limited enemy air attacks to just 5.7 yards per attempt?

That is a good question for BetAnySports customers to ponder. It is no secret that Bortles has not really accessed some of his weaponry all that well, and that includes wide receiver Allen Hurns and tight end Julius Thomas (who are both out for this game). The Jags just don’t get much of a running game going either – anyone who has seen this team has noticed that.

The big difference between these two offenses has to be the accuracy rates between the quarterbacks. While Bortles is now just 58.4% for the season, Sam Bradford has completed 71.2% of his throws. And he has been picked off just three times in 393 throws, which compares a lot more favorably to Bortles, who has suffered 15 interceptions.

Because Minnesota has averaged only three yards per carry, more pressure is on Bradford. And the Jaguars do not let opposing teams get very far when they put the ball in the air. They have allowed just 6.1 yards per attempt and even fewer passing yards per game than the Vikings (196 per game).
