The Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers will face off to see who will win the NFC North title on Sunday night. It is as simple as that. And thanks to NBC for negotiating to have “flex scheduling” in its rights package with the NFL, because we may have been treated to a game with no significance whatsoever otherwise. Here we have the kickoff at 8:30 PM ET at Lambeau Field, and Minnesota will be looking to improve its point spread record to 13-3 ATS. Yes, they have made more profit than any team in the NFL.

A lot of people are high in the Vikings right now, because they have mowed down their last two opponents, scoring 87 points in the process. But football bettors are advised to be careful with all that, because those teams both threw in the towel at some point. At the same time, they appear to be in better form than the Packers are right now. Green Bay started the season by winning its first six games. Then there were three straight losses, including a rather shocking 18-16 defeat to Detroit, which constituted the first time in 21 years that the Lions had won a game at Lambeau Field.

Then, with their backs to the proverbial wall, the Packers came up to Minneapolis, at a time when the Vikings had won five games in a row, and pasted them by a 30-13 score. Perhaps that was a dose of reality. But Green Bay could not stand the prosperity, losing yet another home game to another also-ran when the Chicago Bears beat them the next week. And the Lions very nearly finished off the season sweep after that, as only a Hail Mary pass from Aaron Rodgers to Richard Rodgers saved the day.

Last week, BetAnySports customers saw a low point in the Green Bay season, as the offensive line allowed nine quarterback sacks in a 38-8 shellacking they took at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals. Now, the question is how angry and intense are the Packers going to be coming back from that embarrassing episode? That could have a a real bearing on the results here.

Minnesota beat the Kansas City Chiefs coming out of a bye week earlier in the season, but that was before Andy Reid’s team really started to roll. Aside from that, there have not been any other notable wins. And being outclassed by the Packers, on their home field, kind of sticks out like a sore thumb.

Adrian Peterson only had 45 yards rushing in that game, but he led the league coming into the weekend, with 1418 yards. The Vikes’ best shot in this contest is to establish him early and try not to get far behind. But Green Bay has some mastery over Minnesota, as Mike McCarthy’s career record against them is 15-4-1 straight-up.
