Football Betting Lines at Get That Bet — Between Kansas State and TCU, Someone Might Go to the Final Four

As you probably know by now, the old BCS is out, and the four-team college football playoff is in, and that creates national title hopes for a lot of teams as we come down the stretch. Two of those schools are going to meet up in what should be a very interesting tactical battle. The Kansas State Wildcats, which is ranked #7 in the latest Playoff Rankings, meets up with the #6 team, the TCU Horned Frogs, with Big 12 supremacy on the line.

The thing that makes this TCU edition different than many others in recent years is the fact that the emphasis is on explosive offense. It has worked, to the extent that the Frogs are the second-highest scoring team in the country. And obviously a lot of that credit has to go to quarterback Trevone Boykin, who has really played “lights out.” Although he is ranked only 34th in the country in passing efficiency, he has 22 TD passes with only four interceptions, and that is outstanding in anybody’s league.

Get That Bet customers experienced him in his worst outing of the season last weekend, as weather conditions were not altogether suitable for a track meet between TCU and West Virginia, as some had expected earlier in the week. It was up to Boykin to lead this team on a comeback, and on the final drive the came up with a big 40-yard completion that led to the winning field goal. So no one should say he’s not a clutch performer.

But those people who closely examine the football betting lines are aware that part of TCU’s winning formula this season is being able to force turnovers out of the opposition. Gary Patterson’s team has 26 takeaways, and so it would logically follow that a team able to take good care of the ball might be able to give the Frogs a hassle.

Let us introduce Get That Bet patrons to the Kansas State Wildcats, who have committed just seven turnovers on the season. Quarterback Jake Waters is not going to blow many people away with his stats (1878 yards passing), although he is ranked ahead of Boykin in the NCAA passing efficiency ratings. Waters knows how to pick his spots, and he is an exceptional pair of receivers in Tyler Lockett and Curry Sexton. He also gives veteran coach Bill Snyder exactly what he wants in terms of game management, in that he has gone through the Big 12 schedule thus far without throwing an interception (he has three overall). So you kind of get the idea – if TCU is going to score, it’s not going to be because Kansas State beat itself with turnovers, or penalties for that matter, as they have the second fewest penalty yards in the nation.

We know what you’re thinking, and we are way ahead of you: from the way we laid it out, the Wildcats seem to have the makings of a pretty good underdog. If you felt that way, you’d be right; since Snyder came aboard for his second tenure as head coach, his team has a 23-9 record when getting points. That’s outstanding. And that is what the Horned Frogs have to overcome to cash a ticket for their football betting backers.

How critical is this game on the national scale? Well, the winner is certainly guaranteed to be one of the top six teams in the rankings, and between Mississippi State, Auburn and Alabama, two of those teams will probably be eliminated from the national title picture. So the winner could slide right into one of those four playoff slots when all is said and done.
