The thing that makes this TCU edition different than many others in recent years is the fact that the emphasis is on explosive offense. It has worked, to the extent that the Frogs are the second-highest scoring team in the country. And obviously a lot of that credit has to go to quarterback Trevone Boykin, who has really played “lights out.” Although he is ranked only 34th in the country in passing efficiency, he has 22 TD passes with only four interceptions, and that is outstanding in anybody’s league.

If you felt that way, you’d be right; since Snyder came aboard for his second tenure as head coach, his team has a 23-9 record when getting points. That’s outstanding. And that is what the Horned Frogs have to overcome to cash a ticket for their football betting backers.

How critical is this game on the national scale? Well, the winner is certainly guaranteed to be one of the top six teams in the rankings, and between Mississippi State, Auburn and Alabama, two of those teams will probably be eliminated from the national title picture.
