NBA on TNT Thursday Betting Report – Jan. 15

This Thursday’s NBA double-header on TNT takes us to Houston for the opener in a Western Conference showdown between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the red-hot Rockets. The night-cap is an inter-conference clash between the fading Cleveland Cavaliers and struggling Los Angeles Lakers. The Thunder continue to try and work their way back into the playoff picture in the West, but they have had trouble making up any solid ground with a straight-up 5-5 record in their last 10 games. Oklahoma City has really been a tough team to bet on since mid-December with a 2-9-1 record against the spread in its last 12 games. The total has now stayed UNDER in its last three outings.

Houston extended its current winning streak to four games both SU and ATS with this past Monday’s 113-99 victory over Brooklyn as a seven-point road favorite on VietBet’s closing betting odds. The Rockets are now 6-2 SU and ATS in their last eight contests and the total has stayed UNDER in five of those games. They will stay on the road this Wednesday night for a game against Orlando, but VietBet has yet to release its betting odds for that matchup.

LeBron James returned to Cleveland’s lineup this past Tuesday after a two-week layoff and despite the fact that he scored a team-high 33 points, the Cavaliers still lost to Phoenix 107-100 as 4.5-point road underdogs. It was their sixth loss in a row both SU and ATS and the Cavs now have just two SU victories in their last 12 games while going 3-9 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in 11 of those 12 games.

It has already been a long season for the Lakers with a SU record of 12-27, but things continue to head in the wrong direction with a 3-7 record in their last 10 games that includes back-to-back losses to Portland and Miami as underdogs at home. While Los Angeles failed to cover in both of those losses, it did post a 5-1 record ATS in its previous six outings. The total has now stayed UNDER in the Lakers’ last six games.
